How much of our convictions are we willing to sacrifice for survival? If we do not stand up against injustice because we fear for our loved ones, do we not end up leaving them into a cruel, unlivable world? Is it possible to idly watch injustice and wait (in vain) for it to pass? Familiar questions, familiar reality: Brecht’s drama, premiered in 1941, clearly shows to this day what happens to the individual, if they accept inhumane circumstances as natural order and only act out of self-interest.
“I do believe that through the unravelling of the functioning of (prevailing) regimes and especially the psychology of the individuals living in it, we are better able to reflect upon ourselves, our actions and our underlying motives and the necessary next steps.” (Dániel D. Kovács, director)
